Farmland

I flew to the middle of the U.S. and saw the world’s largest agricultural area. From the sky, while viewing these vast and boundless farmlands, it was hard to imagine that the U.S. can have such an enormous agriculture in addition to the high-tech, the film industry, financial empire, and military might that it possesses.

There are 300 million people in the U.S., and the agricultural population accounts for 1% of that. In other words, 3 million are farming, and there are 3 billion arable acres being farmed, making the average land per farmer a whopping 1,000 acres! This shows the U.S. has a full scale of mechanized agriculture.

In the 1930’s, the U.S. Federal Farm Security Administration (FSA), hired photographers to shoot these farmlands from the air, using infrared film to observe the health of the crops. I watched these same farmlands from my plane, rolling by below like a piece of art, and want to share it with the world.

From Tucumcari, New Mexico, across Texas to Elk City

Elk city is a small town on Rte. 66, in the U.S. Upon landing, I see the town has preserved the bustling appearance of yester years.

Oklahoma Elk City

Elk city
